Illusion of Omnipotence

A belief structure where you’re taught the leader/group has extraordinary authority or protection, making accountability feel unnecessary or dangerous.
• You’re told the leadership can’t be wrong because they’re uniquely anointed/chosen.
• You learn critique is equivalent to attacking the sacred rather than addressing behavior.
• You’re encouraged to interpret outcomes as proof of power instead of mixed causes.
Potential clinical implications (especially in high control settings)
• Greater tolerance for boundary violations and implausible demands.
• Anxiety and cognitive dissonance when reality contradicts the narrative.
• Disillusionment crashes that can include grief, depression, and identity destabilization.
